2020-02 Purchase Order State Changes

Purchase Order State Changes

We are making some changes to the way our purchase order states work in the background.

Previously, marking a purchase order as 'SENT' triggered a background task that would move stock into transit (a movement). We previously introduced a new state of 'DISPATCHED' to the purchase order flow to give a more accurate signal of what is happening with an order. The 'DISPATCHED' state also had the effect of creating a movement.

As we move forward with clarifying purchase order states and control flow, we have made the decison to stop the 'SENT' state from triggering movements. Instead, 'SENT' is now used as a marker to signify that the supplier has been notified of the order. 'DISPATCHED' will be used to create movements once the supplier has confirmed the order they were sent.
